About "The Enchanted Tarot"

Like our dreams, the tarot and all visual arts use symbols to guide us in a way that routinely transcends differences of language and culture. This is why art is the primary way through which we are able to "communicate" with peoples and cultures from the near and distant past. This commonality is reflected in the tarot. The tarot cards — pieces of beauty in and of themselves —- are universal archetypes and symbols that have transcended time and distance. Since its introduction into Western civilization, the tarot has allowed not just the spiritual adept but and seeker of guidance direct access to the wisdom and power of their higher self.

Amy Zerner's own study of the tarot inspired her to design her own deck of tarot cards to help us all enter the magical realm of self-awareness. In so doing, she was following in the footsteps of many great artists, most notably Salvador Dali. Amy felt that it was imperative to create a deck whose images radiate life and love, and which manages to evoke the traditional meanings of the cards without the garish, violent pictures that frighten many away from the tarot. In 1988 she began work on what can easily be called a masterpiece, "The Enchanted Tarot". It is an epic series of seventy-eight fabric collages.
