The symbol shows the crescent of the individualized Soul impaled on the cross of Matter. If you think that this sounds like crucifixion, you're right. Neptune rules, or is closely associated with, the sign of Pisces, whose symbol is two fish. The sign of the fish was used by early Christians to mark places where secret religious services were held and the sign Pisces and the planet Neptune are closely associated with the message of Jesus and ego-denial, selfless love, sacrifice and faith in the unseen. Sometimes this inspiring ego- denial for a higher cause becomes perverted by fear into self-destructive, escapist tendencies like suicide, drug and alcohol addiction and a defeatist attitude.

The true home of the Soul is not the material world. Science has yet to pinpoint how and where the mind, emotions and body interconnect. The Soul has its origin beyond the material world and it is this concept that is represented by the planet Neptune. While Saturn represents what we normally think of as reality, Neptune represents the reality that is beyond the reality of our senses and what Jesus called Heaven and the true home of the Soul.

This other world is beyond time and space. It is the world of intuition, mental telepathy and Extrasensory Perception of all kinds. Neptune was the god of the oceans. When you put your foot in the sea you are connected to all the oceans in the world as well as all the continents. When you are attuned to the subtle vibrations of the world represented by Neptune, you are connected to All-That-Is, All-That-Was and All-That-Will-Be. The un-enlightened call this mysticism, illusion and even delusion. Neptune rules those things and more and oils, essences, gases, veils and films (movies too!).

The concept that 'all is one' was proven by Albert Einstein in his Theory of Relativity, where he discovered that all matter is essentially energy and can even be converted into energy. This deeply spiritual man's proof of Jesus' words was used, despite his objection, to create the atomic bombs that threaten us today. It is an ironic, perverted reflection of the power of the Spirit, but it is also the prime example of how difficult it is to use the energies of the planet Neptune in the material world. Just when you think you understand, your understanding dissolves as you remember you are searching for a 'peace beyond understanding'.
