The Dream  
A melancholy woman cries eight heart-shaped, ice-rimmed tears which fall, like dried leaves, into the frigid stream below. Her sacrifice has been in vain and she is drained of all energy. This is a tale of love and devotion which has been denied and now serves no purpose. The fish swimming in the freezing water below symbolize deep emotion, but emotion that threatens to overwhelm, and possibly even immobilize. To have given so much, uselessly, has rendered the woman as bereft of hope as the barren branches growing through the central heart. Like the illusion produced by winter snows, here it seems that life has been smothered forever and she cannot possibly endure in such a wasteland. Gone is the inspiration that moved her to the supreme proof of loyalty: to put another person's benefit before her own. As the extent and implications of her folly are revealed, she stands momentarily frozen in her tracks, but as spring flowers are watered by winter snows, so will her tears nourish a wiser use of her devotional energies in the future.

The Awakening  
There must now be a retreat from emotional involvement. Excessive concentration on others, or on pursuits that primarily benefit others has left you unfulfilled. You have given away too much of yourself. You may have to abandon that which you once sought, to seek something that is more worthy of your effort and sacrifice. You now have the opportunity to find a new direction.

The Enchantment  
Hold a white feather in the smoke of burning sage, then sweep it up and down your entire body to cleanse your "aura." Wear your rings or other jewelry on the opposite side of your body from which they are usually worn. Remember that your left side draws in energy and your right side releases it. This enchantment will begin your process of renewal.
