Two of Pentacles

The Dream
Two snakes--one light and one dark--writhe on a background filled with rippling currents of colored light and shadow. Soon the dark snake will shed its skin and appear light while the lighter snake's skin will turn dark. Thus is the ever-changing, cyclical nature of the material world. This is a world of duality: light and dark, male and female, young and old, life and death; each opposite being contrasted with the other to define its own uniqueness. The figure eight surrounding the two stars is a universal symbol for infinity. It is a figure without beginning or end, formed by a point that is constantly changing direction. The points of the four arrows, coming in from each corner of the card, dissolve at contact with the symbol, showing that every action, direction, and possibility present in every moment is nothing more or less than another, temporary turn of events.

The Awakening
With change comes the growth that runs throughout one's life. The growth from child to young adult and from young adult to old age is meaningless without the accompaniment of the wisdom accumulated with the changing seasons of our lives. You have endured changes in the past, both comforting and uncomfortable, and are now being called on to do so again. As you ride upon the flowing waves of life, you must remain flexible and see change as opportunity .

The Enchantment
Use a crayon to draw a large figure eight on a piece of paper. Trace it again and again, without lifting your crayon or your eyes from the figure, until the rhythm and movement flows easily. Now change and draw it in the opposite direction. As you draw, think, "I am flexible enough to adapt quickly and easily to all situations. My goal is contentment in all circumstances."

Always perform our Enchantments in a safe manner. Use caution with scissors and all sharp objects. All candles and all fires should only be lit in well ventilated areas and in appropriately strong and fireproof metal or ceramic containers that are stable and have walls to prevent sparks from leaping out. Never leave a candle or fire burning unattended.
