10 Wheel of Fortune

The Dream
The "wheels within wheels" that make up The Wheel of Fortune spin and turn like the never-ending rhythms and cycles of life. A spin of the wheel may bring unexpected luck, opportunity, and good fortune; or it may cause the reverse, and present obstacles to our desires. With the turn of the wheel, a confrontation with some action from our past may occur. Is this "Fate," "God's Plan," or "Karma"? What seem to be beginnings and endings are in fact merely part of the seamless circle of life. Rising up from the horizon are two puffs of smoke that symbolize the form of spirit. In spite of all the changes, nothing will remain but this elusive spirit. The graceful peacocks spreading their ornate tails remind us of expansion and wealth. The lively golden horse raises its hoof with the excitement of taking a risk, of betting and winning. An eagle soars high above, symbolizing the feeling of supremacy gained by reaching the top of the wheel. Above them all reigns a Sphinx with glowing eyes that sees all the cycles, recurring patterns, and evolutions. She knows that no one stays at the top forever.

The Awakening
The turning Wheel of Fortune conveys the message that what goes around, comes around; or what goes up, must come down. You will reap what you have sown, thus you must think ahead and consider your actions whether you find yourself at the top or at the bottom of the wheel. To avoid being ruled by Fate, take responsibility for your life and what happens to you. Take risks. Be open to any new and unexpected opportunities.

The Enchantment
Perform this enchantment during a new moon. Light three orange altar candles and incense, filling the air with sweet scents. Meditate on The Wheel of Fortune, seeing its wheels spinning round and round. Chant: "Goddess of Fortune, please hear my plea, Goddess of Fortune, please come to me." Know that by the full moon you will have good luck.

Always perform our Enchantments in a safe manner. Use caution with scissors and all sharp objects. All candles and all fires should only be lit in well ventilated areas and in appropriately strong and fireproof metal or ceramic containers that are stable and have walls to prevent sparks from leaping out. Never leave a candle or fire burning unattended.
