The Fourth House is at the bottom of a horoscope

Returning to the scenario of the early astrologers lying down whilst looking up at the night sky, you will recall that the line pointing northward, or towards the bottom of a horoscope, pointed behind and down into the Earth itself. The sign and planets associated with the Fourth House have come to be associated with our experience of the concept of Our basic foundation — Our support structure on earth and How we feel about security.

Farming and Real Estate are the obvious associations, but by applying the concepts of 'foundation and support structure' further, we realize that Our home, Our Close Family -- especially Our Mother -- and Our Past are equally significant contributors to our experience of support. If these factors are disturbed or are otherwise unreliable during childhood, most psychologists say that it is extremely difficult to compensate for the feeling of insecurity that might result.
