Let's build and live in an Enchanted World

I recently attended a convention in Boston called VON, which used to stand for Voice On the Net and used to be "only" the premier convention about everything connected to using the Net for Voice phone calls. The best of these cheaper-than-the-phone-companies are Vonage and Skype and especially  Free World Dial-up - the only phone service using your computer that is actually FREE! And now Yahoo, AOL, and Google, and cable TV companies and even the regular phone companions all offer VoIP calling (Voice over Internet Protocol).

But the "V" in VON also stood for Video when I was there and was actually the reason I was there. Wait. That's not really true. The reason I was there is that I was invited to check it out by my dear friend Jeff Pulver, the man who founded VON and Free World Dialup (FWD) and also contributed to the founding of Vonage and Skype and many more companies. Jeff is a true visionary in the VoIP industry and now Video on the Net and I told him that I think they should say that VON stands for Vision on the Net, because Jeff has seen the future before - what is now the present success of VoIP - and he sees another future that is just around the corner: Social Networking!

If you want to know the basics about Social Networking and why it matters, I just noticed "coincidentally" (there are no coincidences!!!) that there's an article in today's Sunday NY Times about what Jeff spoke about in his keynote speech at VON and has spoken about for some time. To read that article, click here.

I love Jeff for many reasons but it is his ability to be a visionary businessman that makes him so rare and valuable to me as a friend and adviser. He values this same mixture in me, my ability to see the future and my respect for business and everyone who works in business. I can't tell you how disappointing it is for me to hear some self-described "artiste" put down business and business people; it is as distasteful as when I hear business people putting down artists for being naive and needing to be led through the "real world." I respect everyone I meet until they show me that I shouldn't. I see every person I meet as an expression of the Divine, and not just those who buy our creations! ;-) We're all in this together and that is why Amy and I believe that it is time to make this website, TheEnchantedWorld.com, live up to its name: we're going to develop it into a fully functioning social networking website over the next year and the changes are starting already.

Before I went to Boston last week and got shown the light by Jeff and the great people I met at VON and specifically at the Video on the Net part of this truly huge convention we had already decided that it was time to make our website's Store & More easier to navigate, since we knew that it would be impossible to make it any harder to navigate!! Sorry everybody that it took so long but we've been working, like "dawgs," as we used to say in Brooklyn, land of my youth (or "yout" as we used to say!) We've been dawg-working on the four book projects that are, as I write these words, being uncrated and placed on our very own Enchanted World shelves in every Barnes & Noble store that sells New Age books! Those projects are "The Enchanted Spellboard," "Little Reminders: Love & Relationships," "Secrets of The Fortune Bell: Ring in Positive Energy," and the long-awaited rebirth of one of our most beloved and important works, "Goddess, Guide Me!" We're a bit exhausted by the effort but exhilarated by the chance to give life to our creativity, especially because each of these titles is designed to help you give life to your own creativity - we love our work!

And we love our website, even now, but it is going to get better - a lot better. And though we know what we want to do, i.e., build a little community here in the oasis of the Enchanted World and better help other people to enchant their own worlds, we want to hear suggestions from you, dear reader, because we want our website to be your community center. Sure, FaceBook and Twitter and MySpace are fine, but they don't reflect the shared interests of the now thirty thousand unique visitors we get each and every month. Our goal is to play host to that many people every day - to start! We're going to have even more videos than we have now, a lot more, and we're planning on giving them away. Videos like "How to Read Tarot Cards" and "How to Learn Astrology." I happen to know how to teach these things better than anyone I know because my specialty is taking complexity and reducing it to simplicity. And it is my sincere hope that by building out www.TheEnchantedWorld.com into an enchanted community of like-minded people sharing their hopes and dreams for a better world through self-empowerment through ancient wisdom, we will send into the world our positive energy and thereby beat back the darkness that the media wants you to believe is encroaching on us all day every day and from every direction.

Amy and I live in an Enchanted World right now, our own oasis in the middle of the media's phony world of fear and powerlessness. We think we are powerful and we know that if we create this community that will be a powerful force in the world for good. And we don't have anything better to do! ;-)

Wishing you love, light, and laughter always and in all ways,

Monte for Amy
