Monte Farber, famous sports psychic???!!
Well, in a way, it is true. Here's the link to an article about me written by sportswriter Jerry Green, whose legendary column, From the Cheap Seats," appears in the equally legendary Orlando Sentinel. It was fun to be interviewed by him and I like the article.
Some background: I did tell everyone who asked, including my friend Dan Rattiner of Dan's Papers (which makes it official?) that the NY Giants football team would beat the Green Bay Packers and go on to win the Superbowl. I mentioned this to my childhood friend, Amy Krakow, who is a super publicist, and she asked me who was going to win the World Series. I told her what I heard, it would be the Yankees versus The Giants and she howled with laughter because the San Francisco Giants are considered the worst team in the league. Well, I've heard "That's impossible!" more times than I can remember in response to psychic info I've heard and reported, so Giants, get your game on! You have a chance at the big dance! See, all this sport association that Amy's been getting for me - I've been on the big SF sports station and they thought I was nuts! plus some more radio and print interviews because of this prediciton - and it's all because I don't care about sports or predicting it.
I believe what a Life Reading channeler, Robin Bannon, once told me: That I was a gladiator in a past life who was so good at fighting that I not only survived the ring, I became successful and had my own stable of gladiators that I trained and was an adviser to the Roman government about how to put on the games so people would not resent the huge taxation. I'm not saying that I was a likeable guy, but I can relate to the gladiator roll - I've had my fill of sports and people being hurt for other people's amusement. Though, like an old fire horse, I do still choke up when a sports person overcomes great odds and survives - old habits (old lifetimes?) die hard. That's probably why I LOVE the HBO series, ROME, which I strongly advise everyone to watch - it's the best filmed entertainment EVER and I wish they had done ten seasons instead of just two. It's the best, you're depriving yourself if you don't see it, even if you weren't a gladiator. There's only one gladiator scene in the whole show (but it's a great one!)
Oh, yeah, here's the link to the Orlando Sentinel article. This has been fun. I'm retiring as a sports psychic, unless the San Francisco Giants make the playoffs!
