About Us
TRUE EMPOWERMENT MEANS TRUE EQUALITY
Anyone who knows anything about history knows that we live in the most wonderful time in the entire history of Earth. Disease has been brought under control to a degree never believed to be possible. The chance of getting eaten or killed or injured by a large animal or even by a murderous person has been drastically reduced through technologies and laws, though there are wars and wars kill innocent people - even one is too many. Though too many people are hungry, the percentage of people who have good nutrition available to them has never been higher.
Most if not all of these advances have come about in direct proportion to the education and political freedom enjoyed by a way too small percentage of the Earth's population. In my opinion, the enslavement and brutalization of women is the single most important threat to all people. This is why I have no use at all for any religion or government that in any way allows or promotes the suppression of any woman's right to live completely equal to any man.
Look at the violent mobs calling for death and destruction and what do you notice? There are few if any women in those crowds. If women had any power in those areas of the world they would tell their men "Are you nuts? You're not going to any stupid "Death to (fill in the blank) rally. You've got too much to do around here," and the men would realize that they were right and more would get done around there, like bringing their economies out of the Dark Ages.
There are plenty of women who believe that it is right and proper for them to be second or third or no class citizens. In my opinion, the women who go along with the religions and laws that give men power over them are victims of what is called "Stockholm Syndrome," they've bonded with their captors. It is a natural survival technique and they can't be blamed, though they should be treated as dangerous, like their blood-thirsty male counterparts.
Women, as the givers of life and nurturers, know better than to want war and death and destruction. A culture that devalues the feminine devalues peace. Period. I am in full disagreement with those who say "Who are you to criticize the values of another culture?" My answer is that murder is murder, slavery is slavery, injustice is injustice, and they are always wrong and deserving of being prevented by any means necessary.
Cultures where women are subjugated and controlled are cultures where families have too many children, more children than they can afford to feed and clothe and educate. When women have the ability to determine if and when they will have one or more children, the birth rate of that place drops dramatically. That is what has happened in the developed world. In fact this is why the birth rate of developed nations dropped so dramatically that the government technocrats and businesses were willing to import people from poor countries to do the work that subjugated women and their enforced large groups of offspring used to do. And the women immigrating from the poorer countries usually were under the thumb of the men and so they had and continue to have large families, a dynamic that is changing the demographics of Europe in earth-shaking ways that are calling into question the concept of majority rule.
I believe that the future is bright for the USA and the countries where women have equality with men. The present economic crisis is a severe challenge but we are a great nation because we have always risen to the challenges we face and used them to our advantage. Many great fortunes are being made today, right in the midst of this crisis, by women and men who don't waste time wringing their hands. More to my point, nations with sexual equality benefit by having the full creative power of both men and women applied to any situation. When you look at the decisions and actions taken by nations where women are little more than baby machines it is easy to see that they are not "cooking with all their burners." I urge you, especially if you are a young woman, to educate yourself about the nations of the world where women are still suffering and to work to do something about it.
If you want to know the future of the world, look to the development of human rights for women in your relationship, your home, your town, your state, your nation, and around the world. Where you see women becoming more empowered and free politically you can bet that place is going to prosper and make the right decisions. Where you see women brutalized and held down and devalued and controlled by religious decree and by law and forced to make babies when they'd rather be doing something else, then you can bet there will be trouble and you can also bet that those places are where people will be born who are going to come after you to make trouble for you. Children born into families where violence is sanctified against them and their mother and their sisters by religion or by law are going to believe without question that violence is something that they can and must use in their own lives, whether just to pay back for what they've suffered or to be the righteous law giver and smiter of infidels. It all comes back to the devaluing of the feminine.
