Although there are now relatively few scientists who would
immediately understand and respect the work of shamans like Mayan Elder Hunbatz Men or our
work, Amy and I have the greatest respect for science and scientists. We know
the truth of what we speak because we see it work so powerfully in our own
lives, and so we are confident and content and do not need the approval of
others before we can respect them and their work. We believe that scientists are
to Western civilization what shamans are to their tribes.
In our opinion, one of the greatest scientist-shamans of the
twentieth century, on a par with Albert Einstein, was a man by the name of Marcel
Vogel (1917-1991). Vogel was an American, a senior scientist with IBM for
twenty-seven years, the pioneering inventor and patent holder of numerous
world-changing devices including the liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in
computers, flat-screen TVs and all kinds of electronic displays, the magnetic
coating that enables your computer's hard drive to store information, Day-Glo
paints and black light, and many more inventions of practical use.
After retiring from IBM in 1984, Vogel spent the last seventeen years of his life researching the relationship between quartz crystals and water, which he found also had the ability to store information; water has "memory," like the coating of your hard drive does. To do this, he created his own laboratory, Psychic Research, Inc. The lab was dedicated to the study of subtle forces and energies that radiate from the body of living forms, also known as auras. It was his intent to measure these forces and formulate a system of identification for these energies, which have most often been labeled and dismissed as "metaphysical," a word that means "beyond the physical."
Marcel Vogel's projects included the following:
1. The structuring of water for purification purposes
2. The structuring of wines to rapidly age them
3. The measurement of energy fields around a crystal
4. The therapeutic application of crystals and crystal devices
It is important to remember that it was Marcel Vogel, a scientist of unquestioned importance, who discovered that pure quartz crystal displayed all the characteristics of the behavior of light itself, calling it "enlightened matter." This was no crackpot, but a man with a consistent track record of making scientific breakthroughs of societal importance. He contributed greatly to technologies that help crystals modulate carrier waves and transmit energy frequencies into space and back to our most common home devices, such as lasers, radios, television sets, radar, satellites, cell phones, computers, and a number of other electronic devices used on a daily basis. It is hard to imagine our world without the inventive genius of twentieth-century scientist-shaman Marcel Vogel.
"A crystal is an assemblage of molecules that form a unit cell, a consciousness, a soul. It takes your program and draws to itself the replication of its image." - Marcel Vogel Vogel was a scientist who was also deeply religious, a phenomenon that is more common than you might think. When first presented with various theories about the "secret" life of plants, which he also studied, and the healing power of crystals, things that sounded like a contradiction of his religious beliefs, he was very skeptical, as every scientist and, for that matter, every non-scientist should be. As the Bible's 146th Psalm says, "Put not thy faith in princes." Even so, he gave them a fair hearing, in the tradition of British naturalist Sir Thomas Huxley, who famously said, "I'm too much a skeptic not to believe that anything's possible."
When Marcel Vogel discovered for himself that the energies of mind could affect matter, he then went into serious scientific research. Here, in brief, are a few of his fundamental discoveries regarding the thought energies of mind and crystals, which he also called "Telephones to God."
* That our intentions can be projected regardless of time and space.
* Quartz crystals can amplify, store and transfer these energies of thought.
* The inhaling and exhaling of breath is connected to the receiving and transmitting of thought information.
* Breath, when exhaled through the nostrils in a rapid burst, has the greatest degree of projecting thought.
* The structuring by thought into a crystal can be transferred into water by spinning the water around the crystal in a right hand spiral tube of seven turns leaving the water structured with that thought pattern that was programmed within the crystal.
* We are patterned after that which created us, and therefore we create. Everything hinges around suggestion, as we believe so we create.
We all owe Marcel Vogel a debt that can be repaid only by taking to heart and sharing with those we care about his equally world-changing discoveries about the healing property of crystals. When we do, we not only honor his memory but become his helpers, increasing the understanding and use of the concepts and positive changes to which he devoted his life. He was a true shaman and we are proud to dedicate our new book Healing Crystals to him.
