The Dream  
A skilled and clever magician is performing an occult ritual, as energy pours from his extended right hand to erupt into a pillar of living fire. Like fire, this shaman can transform one thing into another: water into steam, clay into brick, and molten metal into form. While The Fool symbolizes unconscious knowledge, The Magician is the embodiment of the conscious mind's ability to know and manipulate the physical world. Like The Fool, The Magician also wears a pointed hat, the apex of which alludes to our human ability to draw down the cosmic forces. The Magician's hat is swathed in layers of rich fabric, just as the pure energy of our being is wrapped in layers of flesh and blood, as well as thoughts and emotions. On his belt he wears a Pentacle, a Heart, a Sword, and a Wand as tokens of his mastery over the four elements, Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Behind him stands his heavenly city, symbol of the divine origin of desires made manifest in this world through the powers of thought. The Magician is the mediator between these two worlds. With initiative and cunning, he decides which ideas will be made real.

The Awakening  
If your willpower is consciously and aggressively directed, you can accomplish all that you can visualize. You are challenged to go forward into the world and use your skills and intelligence so that, through your actions, both you and the world are changed for the better. Make magic!

The Enchantment  
Prepare an altar upon a red cloth. Place there a cup of water, a burning white candle, a knife, and a crystal or special rock, representing the four elements. Set The Magician card in their midst. Concentrate upon a wish that you want to manifest. Take a stick of incense in your right hand and touch it to the candle flame. Say: "As I transform fire into ashes, so I will transform___ into _____." Place the incense in its holder and watch it burn away.
